Aid arrives in Belarus (again!)

Good news! We successfully shipped 2 tonnes of aid (clothes and toys) to Belarus, just in time for Christmas. We want to say ‘thank you’ to everyone who gave and helped with the packing. We also want to say a special thanks to Sayva Trek for helping with the logistics.

Next year we want to send even more aid… watch this space for how to get involved!

Aid Packing Day

On Saturday 14th July a willing group of volunteers spent the day sorting and packing over 1 ton of clothes destined for Belarus… this gets us very close to our 2 ton target for 2012.  This Aid really does make a difference to the lives of Foster Families that Top Kids support.  Our aim is to send the shipment before the winter.

We are very grateful to all who are partnering with us on this Project, in particular to Storage King for their kind donation of our storage space – and to the members of The Breakfast Club Gloucester for their ongoing support.

Aid arrives in Belarus!

Well the Aid finally arrived in Belarus in October 2011 and was distributed over Christmas to the many foster families supported by Top Kids Charity in partnership with One Community Gloucester.

Andrew and Avril (the founders of Top Kids) held 3 Christmas parties for the foster families – hosting nearly 200 people. The toys we gave over the last two years were used to give each child a unique and personal present. They had just enough of the right varieties for all the different ages of boys and girls – and every child was blessed… we never even had that in mind when we collected and sent them!

This Aid really does make a difference – and our vision is to increase the amount that we ship out every year. We would like to ship our next tonne by April 2012 so that it arrives for the next Ladies Team Trip in June. This is where we need your help!  We need good quality – second-hand  or preferably new – clothes, shoes and toys – we are particularly after children’s and young teens clothes. Toys need to be complete (no parts missing) and NOT battery operated.

Our drop-off days are the first Saturday of every month between 1000-1200 at Storage King, Unit 3 Barnwood Point, Gloucester, GL4 3HX

We are very grateful to all who are partnering with us on this Project, in particular to Storage King for their kind donation of storage space for Aid – and to the members of the Gloucester Breakfast Club for their ongoing support.

Second shipment of aid almost ready

Our second Aid Shipment to Belarus will take place in July, we are very grateful to Storage King for their help in providing storage and sorting for us. Once this shipment has been delivered, it will mean the total donated aid reaches the two tonne mark!

Practical teams continue good work in Belarus

We have now sent a number of ‘practical’ teams across to Belarus to help with various renovation and building projects – some of these projects involve helping families to prepare their homes ready to receive foster Children -as well as carrying out repairs to the new Top Kids Family Centre.

The latest team have just got back this month – where the main project was replacing a rotten wooden floor with a concrete one (and all with no ready-mix lorry!)

Our next team is due to visit in September 2011.

All girls team visit Top Kids Family Centre

In April this year we sent our first ‘all female’ team to Belarus.  The 6 ladies – all from Gloucester – stayed at the Top Kids ‘Family Centre’ where they were involved in organising an event designed to honour the hard work of around 25 of the foster mothers supported by Top Kids.  For many of these mothers this will have been their only ‘day-off’ all year (if not longer!).

Our team were also involved in distributing some of the aid shipped by One Community last October – they also visited a local Government Children’s Centre (‘Priot’) where they were able to spend time playing with the children.
